Amey: The Forth Bridges
We built an IoT integrated digital communications platform, capable of auto-scaling to avoid outage during periods of sudden high traffic.
It was business critical for Amey to be able to offer Forth Road bridge users a mobile friendly website providing up-to-the-minute bridge information and capable of coping with sudden high volumes of web traffic in the event of a lane or complete bridge closure. We built a robust Umbraco website utilising cutting edge auto-scaling, load balanced virtual machines on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, integrated with live IoT data from the bridge.
We integrated the Forth Road Bridge's IOT technology giving user up-to-the-minute information on the status of the bridge.
Mobile friendly responsive design
Many users access the website using mobile devices so responsive design was business critical.
During the closure of the Forth Road Bridge, Blueprint monitored the server traffic on a minute-by-minute basis. The team worked with the Amey Communications team over the Christmas period to help support in what was a major incident and disruption for those that live and work in Scotland.Mike J.
