Agidea joins the UK Government G Cloud framework

Digital services innovators, Agidea, based at MediaCityUK, Manchester has been awarded a place on the Government’s G-Cloud Framework, enabling them to supply cloud services to the public sector.

The aim of the Digital Marketplace is to make it simpler, clearer and faster for those in the public sector to buy what they need.

The G-Cloud Framework is part of the Government’s implementation of innovations in cloud computing to transform the public sector ICT (Information and Communication Technology) estate into one that is agile, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable.

"quicker, cheaper and more competitive, open to a wider range of companies, including a majority of SMEs, and offers more choice and innovation.”

Francis Maude

Minister for the Cabinet Office

Francis Maude, the Minister for the Cabinet Office said of the G-Cloud initiative that it was "quicker, cheaper and more competitive, open to a wider range of companies, including a majority of SMEs, and offers more choice and innovation.”

Public sector organisations use the Digital Marketplace to find and compare cloud-based services, like Web Content Management Systems. Companies that want to sell cloud services on the Digital Marketplace, must first submit them to the G-Cloud framework.

A successful application ensures that the basic terms of the service will have already been agreed with government following a formal Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) procurement process. As a consequence, public sector organisations can buy services more quickly, as they don’t have to run a full tender.

Sam Flanagan, Managing Director at Agidea said:

“Procurement of web IT services has traditionally been a costly and time-consuming task. Sifting through multiple open tender responses can be tedious and stressful, especially if you have a tight deadline. The G-Cloud procurement framework makes things easier and less risky. It will save time and money on IT procurement. Securing a place on the Government’s G-Cloud framework was a great win and now enables us to connect with over 30,000 public sector organisations and to further our ever-growing public sector client base.”

Agidea's Manchester-based team are focused on delivering digital transformation with Microsoft cloud technologies. Their existing public sector clients include Manchester University, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital Trust and the NHS.

The UK Government has published Agidea’s G-Cloud offering on the Digital Services Marketplace as of 23rd November 2015 (listed under our previous name - Blueprint Web Technologies).
