Agidea shortlisted for 2015 Big Chip Awards

The team of technology specialists based at MediaCityUK focus on web, mobile and cloud development using the latest Microsoft and open source technologies, including ASP.NET, Umbraco and Windows Azure cloud services.

The independent digital consultancy strives to deliver value through innovation and attention to the human dimension.

Big Chip is the UK’s longest running digital industry award and celebrates its 17th year. Manchester Digital, an independent trade association that supports digital businesses runs the event. The awards provide an opportunity for the digital community to meet and recognise some of the North’s finest achievements. The winners are announced at a prestigious award ceremony hosted at Manchester’s historic Midland hotel on July 2.

Agidea's nomination is for the Best B2B E-Business Project award for the agency’s development of the Bluewater Shopping Centre Retailer Communications Platform. Bluewater Shopping Centre receives 27 million visitors each year to its vast 240-acre site. Since 1999, the Bluewater central management had relied on an extranet as one of its main communication tools with retailers and other stakeholders. The existing system was difficult to update due to limitations in design and functionality.

Agidea led a user-centric, lean, agile and structured approach to integrate the Umbraco content management platform with Bluewater’s existing Microsoft technology based systems.

The team were able to help Bluewater transform its relationship with retailers and employees.

The new extranet communications platform went live on 12 August 2014 – and the results were immediate. In the first month after launch alone, use of the Bluewater extranet increased by over 400%.

Sam Flanagan, Managing Director for Agidea commented:

“This project has been a great example of using innovative technology to do things differently; to quickly deliver a great value solution and to improve the every day working lives of the busy and hard working people at Bluewater. By focusing on innovation, value and above all the human dimension, Agidea is able to successfully compete against much larger, but less agile, competitors in the digital services space. From retail operations, through to smart cities and healthcare, Agidea is always looking for new ways to improve people's lives and their digital working environments. We’re delighted that our work has been acknowledged by the Big Chip Awards and that we are in such great company among the other entries.”
